The Three Little Wolves

Once upon a time, a long time ago, there were three little wolves, Borres, Clide and Ernest. They lived happily in the forest, in a den under an old oak tree. One day Earnest was taking a walk around the forest looking for berries, when he came upon a gopher hard at work making a burrow deep underground. The gopher looked tense and frightened when he saw the wolf. Ernest asked, why are you so scared. The gopher replied that there was a giant, angry pig, eating every in sight, and he was building a home underground to escape his demise.

The little wolf ran off to tell his brothers, Borres and Clide. The other wolves did not heed his warning and continued to bask in the sun under the old oak tree. While they layed there, Ernest went off to make plans for the arrival of this hungry creature. He worked very hard on his home, making it indestructable to the giant, angry, hungry pig. He used stones and bolders for his walls and heavy logs for the roof. The gopher showed him how to make a paste with mud, which was used like a cement to glue it all together. Borres and Clide would walk by and laugh at the funny looking hut. Telling Ernest that the stories about the pig, were just that, stories. But, Ernest knew in his heart that the day would come and he would be prepare, however his brother would be left as hors d’oeuvres for the pig.

Later the thrree wolves were siting outside when they felt the groung start to shake. Ernest imediatly ran into his shelter. Borres and Clide got ready to fight. When the pig came out, the two brothers ran for their home under the big oak tree. The pig easily picked up the tree causing rocks and gravel to fly everywhere. Borres and Clide took off like canons for Ernests cave begging him to let them in. Ernest wouldn’t budge the door and gave a little smirk thinking about the way he had been treated by Borres and Clide. The legand does not say what actually happened to the brothers, but Ernest remembers something the pig said about needing salt and pepper to go with his wolf chops.

Oh, two bad for Ernest's wolf friends......this sounds a lot like a fable, like the stories that always have a moral.....it was pretty good! Mr. Pink
