Re: Wing of an Angel

Post by Artemis F. on Sat May 03, 2008 11:34 am

Bran dropped about ten feet to the ground from the air in front of the biggest building on the island, the Councils' office. He rolled-up the paper and ran inside, going straight up to the front desk. The woman there smiled as she caught sight of him approaching. "Ah, Bran. What seems to be the problem?" He gritted his teeth, "I need to see the council, immiedietly!" She nodded. "I shall alert them right away." Bran stormed back to the set of chairs and began to pace back and forth in front of them.

About ten minutes later, he was called inside. A round table of men welcomed him inside their conference room. "What has happened, Bran?" Bran walked up to the table and slid the paper across the table to the head man. "This! I found it this morning." The head man gasped, beggining to mumble aloud, "A white-winged angel?! They found one!" He slammed the paper down and looked around the table. "We have a situation, men. The government has captured one! We must get it back at once!" The others looked at each other, horrified. Bran was escorted out and told to wait while they discuss what to do. He covered the back of his neck with his hands and sank into a chair, head down. The door opened and Cadel walked in. "Hey, Bran!" Bran looked up to find the boy standing in front of him. "Uh, hi Cadel. What are you doing here?" Cadel sat down beside him. "I figured I'd get a look inside this huge place. It really is bigger than it looks."

Bran was finally called back inside, leaving Cadel to wait for him. As he entered, he slid his hands into his pockets. "What are we going to do?" They all looked at each other, reassuring themselves, until the headman spoke up,

"We have all agreed, to let you fetch this boy from the govermental grasp, young Bran."

Bran almost fell over with excitement. "Me? You want me to go?" They all nodded. "With some aid, of course. Chose two others to go with you, they shall accompany you on your quest. Choose wisely, though." Bran nodded, determinedly, "I will. Thank you." The head-man stood from his chair and walked around the table to stand next to the boy. He set his hand on Bran's skinny shoulder. "Be careful. But whatever you do, get that boy back. No one deserves to be treated like a lab rat for being different. Now, go, quickly." Bran smiled. "Yes, sir." Then he ran out of the room as fast as his legs could carry him.

Cadel watched Bran walk into the conference room, sliding his hat off. His ears were placed flat against his head to make sure no one noticed the lump under his black baseball hat and they sprang up when he shook his head. They were so sensative, that if he didn't cover them, they would perk twords every high-pitched noise and distract him. And girls liked to tug on them to, which hurt more then they could know, because they usually squeeled while doing so. He sighed. What he didn't tell Bran, was that he could completly turn into a big brown wolf with bright-blue eyes. He normally wouldn't, but he had been considering it with his new friend.
When Bran came running out, Cadel stood and was pulled outside like lightning. They ran behind a cherry tree a little ways away from the huge building when he finally stopped. "Cadel!" Cadel clamped his hat back down onto his head, "What is it, Bran? You almost gave me a heart-attack!" Bran smiled, making Cadel blink in suprise, "Would you like to come to another world with me?" Cadel smiled happily. "Cool! Why are we leaving, though?" Bran dropped his voice barley, audibly, above metzo piano, "We're going on a rescue mission! A brother, lets say, needs our help. You in?" He thrust out his fist and it stopped in front of his friend. Cadel grinned and tapped it, "I'm in! We gonna recruit anyone else?" Bran nodded. "Yes. One other. Don't tell Rose, though. She'd want to come to and we only need three people for this mission."

Stephan heard two soft raps at his door while making his breakfast, leaving his poptarts to answer it. When he slid open the jappenese-style paper door, he was suprised to find Bran and another boy standing on his porch. "Bran? What'r you doing here? And whos that?" Bran just smiled. "This," He motioned to the boy, "is Cadel. And we are going on a rescue mission to another world. You going to come?" Stephan blinked. "Just leave? But, what about school? My parents?" Bran shook his head. "School will be waiting for us when we get back. As for your parents, I think-" Cadel nudged him and took over as his friend turned to him. "They don't have to know. Just tell them your going on a trip with dome friends. It's not techincally lying, after all." Stephan sighed. "Alright. I'll go, but I have to pack. Where should I meet you guys?" Bran smiled. "Under the cherry tree near the entrence to the island. We have to pack to, so we can bide our time."
After they had gone and Stephan had finished packing, he left a note on the counter:

Dear, parents

My friends and I have decided to go on a short road trip. I don't know when we'll be back, but I just wanted you to know where we are.

Love,
Stephan

Then he was off through the moor twords the entrence to the island, his grey backpack slung over his shoulder and adventure in his wake.

Bran tucked the last of his supplies into his black backpack and slung it over his shoulder. He yawned involentarily, but clamped his hand over his mouth. No time for fatigue now. As he stepped outside, he found Rose standing in his driveway. Obviously suprised, he almost jumped. "Rose? What are you doing out here, it's almost midnight!" Rose ran up to him, tears in her eyes. "Are you going away?" Bran blinked at her, "Short trip. I'll be back." "Can I go with you?" He turned away. "No, Rose. I'm going with two other boys from school, no girls on this trip." She sniffed. "Why not?" He half-turned back to her, smiling. "I'm not going to die or anything, Rose. I'll be back, I promise." Leaving her with that, his black wings protruded out of his back and he lifted off, soaring through the night sky. She waved sadly. "You better not be getting into any trouble."

Cadel shoved a bunch of random stuff into his backpack. Clothes, food, blankets, toothbrush, hairbrush. Not much, but he was satisfied. He flung open his German-stlye door, and sprinted off down the road twords the gates with his baseball cap clamped down tight over his ears.

The three teens met under the tree specified, all smiling but Bran. Cadel and Stephan chattered happily in the darkness. Bran gritted his teeth, "Quiet!" he snapped at them. "We have to go now! Follow me." He glided off over the gravel, leaving his companions to look at each other and shrug, hurrying after him obediently. Bran walked up to the gate house and knocked on the window. "Huh? Who's there?" A tall blonde man appeared and peered down at the small group. "What can I do for you?" Bran motioned tword his friends. "We have been sent from the Council on a mission. We wish to go with your trucks to wherever they might be going to begin." The blonde man smiled mysteriously. "I see." He typed in a combination into a key pad so fast you didn't even see his fingers move across the buttons, saluting them. "Aimirgin, I presume? Good, we have sharp minds on the job. Make us proud, boys." Stephan and Cadel were caught by suprise, but Bran lifted both of his own fingers and thrust them off to the side. "We will." He turned to his friends and they smiled from pride, waiting for orders from their new leader. Bran smiled determindly. "Lets go, men."

Re: Wing of an Angel

Post by Artemis F. on Tue May 13, 2008 11:25 pm

Bran, Stephan and Cadel were huddled in the back of a cargo truck, fast asleep. It had been seven hours since the boat had left the island, and they were nearing the Irish coastline. A sudden jolt pulled them out of a deep sleep, making their eyes fly open. Bran rubbed his head and moaned. Wooden floors aren't good beds. Cadel just stretched and ventured to the door, peering out at the green shore. "Hey, guys, look! Ireland!" Stephan stumbled over to him, his eyes mostly still crossed. "I-Ireland? Whoa! Bran, you gotta see this!" Bran had a migraine, and couldn't hear a word of what they were saying through his pounding ears. He shook his head violently, covering his ears with pale hands and crouching down on the floor boards. Stephan noticed his suffering and shushed Cadel into whispers, "Whats wrong with 'im?" Stephan sighed. "Looks like our leader needs some help. Come on, we have to get off before the ship sets sail again."

Supporting Bran between them, they had managed to get behind a fishing house a little ways away from the pier where the boat was docked. They laid the teen onto a few boxes on his back, already passed out from pain, and sat on the other crates. Stephan checked his watch. "Hm. He shouldn't be out long. A few hours tops." Cadel stood, removing his cap to reveal his wolf ears. "We can't be seen with our abnormalities. So, I'll go find a motel for us to stay at until he recovers." Stephan handed him a few dollar bills and waited until he pulled his hat back on and disappeared around the corner to stand from the box. He searched through the crates quietly for something they might need, finding a few sleeping mats from Japan and a small lanturn. Smiling, he opened one and, finding it clean, spread it over his friend to protect him from the wind. Poor guy...

Re: Wing of an Angel

Post by Artemis F. on Tue May 13, 2008 11:56 pm

Cadel wandered down the busy streets, grinning when he caught sight of a hotel. It was a normal-sized building, not huge and not tiny with green wall paper and clean limoliem floors. He ran inside and walked up to the front desk, his tight red shirt shinning in the lights and his blue eyes smiling. The man at the desk smiled at him, "Ah, welcome, my friend. How can I help you today young man?" Cadel put on his 'polite' act. "My friends and I were visiting a family member this week, and her house is filled to the brim. Wedding, you know." he ran his fingers through his soft brown hair, "Stressful time for us all. So, we were wondering how many rooms we could get for three fourteen-year-olds." The man picked up a few papers and examined them, "I believe you would need only on with three beds. How does that sound?" Cadel nodded solemly. "Sounds good. How much for one night?" The man winked. "For a couple of kids, thirty dollars." Cadel smiled. "Wonderful. I'll take it."

Bran groaned. His head felt a lot better, and though the wind stung his face, his body was warm. He opened his eyes and blinked into the afternoon sun, turning over to see Stephan sitting beside him on a nearby crate. "Where... where am I?" His friend sighed with relief. "We're in Ireland, Bran. Behind a fishing house. Cadel's getting us somewhere to stay." Bran tried to sit up, but fell back down from weakness. "Ughh. My head. So we're in Dublin, right? Interesting." Stephan smiled. "Yup. The adventures just beggining."

Cadel ran down the empty streets, his footsteps echoing off the glass shop windows as he headed twords the fishing house with a smile. He held his hat on his soft brown head, wheeling around a corner to see both of his friends sitting on the crates. "Guys! I found us somewhere to stay!"

Bran hobbled down the carpeted hallway, Stephan and Cadel following cautiously. Still a bit out-of-it, they were ready to catch their companion if he fell. Bran leaned against a pink-wallpaper wall, taking a deep breath before trying once again to walk in a straight line. Cadel fingered the key wraped around his finger thoughtfully, "You think we'll get to Aimirgin before they try to hurt him?" Stephan's dark brown bangs hid his eyes as they watched Bran carefully, "I hope so, Cadel."
Cadel flung open their door, leading Bran inside by a limp arm. He grinned. The room was painted red with matching furniture and carpet, two big windows at the far end near the sliding-glass door. Stephan gently cuffed his friend on his shoulder, "Nice! And I was worried you were gonna get us arrested!" Cadel picked Bran up in his arms and laid him in the bed nearest to the windows, "He'll need the light in the morning. Cool, huh? I only got us one night, so we have to leave at 1:00 tomorrow." Stephan took the bed in the middle of the other two, flopping on his back with a sigh, "Cool with me. 'Night." Cadel flicked-off the lights, laying down ontop of his covers and staring at the wall opposite his friends.

Re: Wing of an Angel

Post by Artemis F. on Fri May 16, 2008 10:48 am

Stephan opened his eyes and yawned. The alarm clock said five 'o clock am, so he threw off his covers and jumped out of bed. He grabbed the second key to their room, slipping out the door into the night and locking it behind him. Making his way down the hallway, Cadel's eyes flew open. What was that? His usual wolf instinct was telling him to find the source of the noise, so he slid out of bed and grabbed the only key to the room left, running out and locking the door behind him. He morphed into his brown-wolf form and darted down the hall, leaving poor Bran alone.

Stephan made his way down to the beach closest to the hotel, climbing up on some rocks overlooking miles and miles of dark-blue water. He took a deep breath of morning air, setting aside his brown boots and socks and leaping off the damp rocks, plunging into the depthes below. As soon as he hit the water, he grew a shark's tail over his legs and dorsal fin on his back, swishing around and staring at the colorful fish swimming by. He smiled, a smile just revealing enough to show a row top and bottom of pointed, sharp teeth.

Cadel had just caught sight of Stephan jump, running up the rocks to where he was standing, all four padded feet squelching on the wetness of the rocks. He peered over the edge and gasped when he saw Stephan become a shark and dart away, through the choppy waves. Turning human again, Cadel had forgotten his cap had fallen off in the room, so his brown ears popped up, folding back on his head. Stephan is part shark? Well, now I know why he stayed on the island. He smiled, heading back to the hotel as fast as he could without being seen.

Thank you. I have been working on it for awhile now.

_________________________________________________________________________________

The red sun hovered just above the churning waves, a cool breeze rustling a boy's soft brown hair. Stephan was drying off on a morning-sunned rock when he woke up. Having passed out after coming out of the water, he layed sprawled out on the hard surface, his legs back to normal. Yawning and stretching his arms, he pulled his socks and shoes back on. Rising to his feet, Stephan made his way back to the hotel.

Cadel sat on the end of Bran's bed when he slipped inside. He was staring out the open window, cap forgotten. "Hey, morning, Cadel." Stephan whispered. Cadel turned to face him, blinking. "Oh. Good morning. Bran's still asleep." He stood up and strode over to the couch, flicking on the TV on low, Stephan sitting next to him. "What're you doing?" Cadel never took his eyes from the screen, "Weather." "Ah." The pair fell silent, watching the weatherman point to the green screen and talk.
