I say it as cab-i-nit. xD

I heard that, technically, the way the Pirates of the Caribbean say it is wrong. But it made a better movie title to change the pronunciation..
I never really use the word, so I don't know. xP

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!

Post by xStarr_x3 on Fri Jan 21, 2011 3:59 am

I say dee-tails
And I'd say it as Meera.

It depends on if I'm reading it from text or going outloud.
Off text, I'll say dah-tah.
Out-loud, I'll say day-tuh.
Because I CANNOT read things off print that are not spelled the way they sound. For example, genre. I say it as 'jen-rah'. And if you want me to pronounce it the right way, it better be written as 'jonra'.

JERSEY.
Jer-see
Joi-zee

Also, when saying the days of the week, do you say 'day' at the end, or pronounce it more as 'dee'?
I say day. Dee sounds stupid.

Yay Starr! I wanted it Meera. It's one of my book character names Razz

Oh my gosh! Data was the one I forgot!

I also use both, but I like Day-ta more

Only the people from jersey say joi-zee haha. I definitely say it jer-zee.

I say day at the end. Dee sounds like half an effort or something Razz

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!

Well I know but I was curious how people would automatically pronounce it when reading it in print.

Yeah I think it is a southern thing because no one here really says dee. Thank god, no offense to southerners, but I can't stand that really thick twangy accent.

I'm pretty sure we did this one....I can't remember /shrug
Pronounce
like...

prah-nounce
or
pro-nounce

First for me XD

Pro-nounce for me. c:

And I can stand Southern accents to some degree.
If there's a little touch, it can be cute. But if it's downright SOUTHERN, heck no, get away from me and stop filling my ears.
Northerners have accents too. xP

Yeah I agree. If it's slight then yes it's cute. But if it's so thick I can barely understand them I'm like ahhh!
I know, I'm a northerner. Our accents just aren't annoying Razz They're just....well....sort of dull XD

General American is the best, because it's the easiest to understand.
I speak General American with like 2% of a southern accent. Most of the time you couldn't even tell.

I have different accents on different words. o-o
Because I'm from the North, so I originally had that kind of accent, but then I've lived in the South, so I picked up some of that accent. xD
I'm a messssss.
So people down here usually think I'm northern, and people up there usually think I'm southern.

OH.
How do you guys say subtle?
This is the one word I will never be able to pronounce correctly.
Sub-toll for me.

Suh-tuhl.

I really don't know what a Northern accent sounds like. xP I guess I don't notice because I've always lived around it?

Usually pruh-nounce for me.
Juhr-zee. Unless I'm trying to do that Jersey accent, then I'll say joi-zee.

I don't know what a northern accent sounds like either.....seeing as I have one. I've always been sort of curious to know what I sound like to other people.
